Walter Breuning, oldest man in the USA and also a Great Falls, Montana resident, will appear with the "Backroads of Montana" show host William Marcus on Montana PBS. Walter will recant his long list of memories from his 112 years of life, including his friendship with Great Northern Railroad (now BNSF) tycoon, James J. Hill and often seeing artist, Charlie Russell at a local tavern. This once in a lifetime interview airs on Montana PBS: Thursday 2/5 at 7:30pm, repeats Saturday 2/14 at 5pm and Sunday 2/15 at 10:30am. Click Here For More

Monster Garage Type Car/Truck Comes To Town

Looking like those seen on TV, a very unusual and unique vehicle made a short stop tonight. We caught owner/builder Lee D. Greer just after fueling up to head south on I-15. Lee gave us a pump side interview and told some stories of the road, while we got a couple of photos. Lee had been visiting friends in Canada and was now on his way home to Victorville, California. He was towing a small trailer loaded with "goodies" to take home. By goodies, we mean, more parts to put on the car and for other projects. This car/truck is a Volkswagen station wagon converted into a pickup type truck. There is little room for Lee inside as he has installed about everything that you can imagine to the dash and interior, not to mention, his gear for the trip. There is a custom steering wheel with a flatened bottom, tons of gadgets and gages, reems of electrical wire and much more. Currently, the exaust stacks are just for show but Lee has plans to hook them up and to an even more powerful engine to be installed, in the not to distant future. We at NBMC really enjoyed meeting and talking with Lee and hope to see him in California for a better, and warmer, interview plus, some golf with him.

Sept. 18th-
Famous jet car racer, Joe Brown of Badlands Racing, Phoenix Arizona was caught by NBMC fueling up at a local c-store. Joe has been racing jet cars since 1989. His first car was the dragster, Desert Heat which he sold in 1993 to start racing jet funny cars. The car below is called Secret Weapon and is shaped like a USA tank.

Aug. 28th-
With a slight chill in the air, members of the 49th Street Blues Project warmed the hearts of all attending their free outdoor concert next to the Great Falls Library. They will be performing next at the Blues & Brews concert event scheduled for Sept. 5th, 5:00 pm to Midnight in the Civic Center convention room. This is the eighth annual fund-raiser for River's Edge Trail which will be headed by Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers. Tickets can be purchased at Kaufmans, Planet Earth, Bert and Ernie's, Vintage Sellers, and Rod's Music for $15. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Bay Drive Trail. A real labor of love...
A portion of the new decking being complete, those laboring on the 10th St. Bridge remodel have decided to pause, reflect and celebrate. This Labor Day, Sept. 1st, 2003 the reconstruction will cease so those involved with the bridge can show it off to the public. There will be live bands and other events. Newz Blast will be there to cover this great event for Great Falls and Montana. This holiday event begins at 3:00 pm and along with many live bands will be a clown and magician Eric Spragg. Antique cars will be on display and you can enjoy a free soda, ice cream, and bottled water. You can call 406-452-5492 to find out more.

Aug. 13th-
East Glacier, Montana now has a beautiful new park with more to come. Located at the center of town and on U. S. 2 the new park is a hit with tourists and locals. The center piece is a full size sculpture of welded steel. The sculpture, pictured below, is by artist, Duane Afterbuffalo and depicts a horse and rider. East Glacier will soon have another park opposite this one with more artwork gracing it. That project is slated for the 2004 season.

Below, is Craig Beaubien standing with his 2003 Ford F-150 "Super Truck". Also, pictured behind him, is his 1st place trophy from an action packed race held at Kalispell, Montana on Aug. 9th. Craig and his 18 teammates in racing are due to race next at Vernon, BC on Aug. 23rd. That will be the 7th in the Blackjack Super Truck Racing Series of 2003.
