Historic Building Gets New Paint

Shelby's long time landmark and furniture store, Western Furniture, was receiving a fresh coat of paint this week. Perfection Painting primed and painted the building followed by three sign painters that put the finishing touches on with all new signage. This building has been in Shelby history for many decades. Before Western Furniture moved there from Main St. in the late 1960's, a longtime hardware store occupied the building. That store was called K&T Hardware and it is believed that they built the building. Before the current building was built, there was a hotel called the Sullivan at that location. This is the hotel where Sheriff Alsop was shot to death while confronting robbery suspects.
