PLEDGE TO UPHOLD BASIC EQUALITY

After 34 years of working for basic fairness for all Oregonians and their families, Oregon has taken a historic step forward by passing two basic fairness laws--one banning discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity, and one creating Domestic Partnerships. After so many years of struggle, we are now poised to end discrimination against and provide security to GLBT Oregonians and their families. This is a HUGE victory! Now the work begins to ensure that both of these laws stay laws.A group of vocal and organized opponents are collecting signatures to overturn our new laws. These opponents don't represent the values of most Oregonians... but they shouldn't be underestimated.What can you do about it?Stand up for Fairness -- SIGN THE DEFEND EQUALITY PLEDGE! Pledge to Defend Equality by voting YES in November 2008 to keep these laws in place and by declining to sign any petitions attempting to overturn Oregon's new laws ending discrimination against individuals and families through the Oregon Equality Act and Domestic Partnerships.
