Obama Visits Salem

Senator Barack Obama visited Salem for a town hall meeting. The Salem Armory was expected to fill by on lookers to see the presidential candidate. 2300 tickets were given out in one and a half hours in downtown yesterday. About 3000 people turned out see the senator. The armory was checked thoroughly by Oregon State Troopers and Port of Portland K-9 Unit. The state bomb squad checked the area and the Salem buses out front. Salem Fire had members on hand. TSA provided security and scanned all individuals as they entered the armory. Demonstrators out front were holding signs about pro-choice and planned pregnancy. The signs showed pictures of dead embryos and babies in the womb with coins. At about 12:20 p.m. Obama staff said they were opening the doors to all even those with no tickets, at that time 25 people were in line. Six news crews had broadcast vehicles at the fairgrounds to get the footage for their stations. Senator Obama came and talked and then opened the floor for questions. Comment at the link below.
