Pirates Look To Take Over Former Brit Island

What was once a British throw away may become a modern Pirate island. Pirate Bay, a website known for pirated file sharing with 1.5 million visits a day is looking to by their own island. They look to have an island nation of their own to avoid copyright laws. Into this picture comes two huge steel pillars and an equally large steel platform 6 miles out to sea from Britain. Built by Britain during WW2 as a defense station it was later abandoned and left to the elements. The platform was then occupied by a British couple known as Roy and Joan in 1966 and in 1967 they declared it a sovereign Principality and set up their own government. With threats to shut them down as well as jail time, this then makes it a very tempting purchase for the pirates of Pirate Bay.
